Notable Tree Tour
In this fun tour with City Forester Doug Still, you will learn about some of the 24 notable trees in Roger Williams Park. Which is the oldest? Which is the biggest? Which is your favorite? This walk with Doug will be about an hour and will only be moderately strenuous, visiting some of the more interesting notable trees near our meeting location at the Boathouse.
All are welcome. Minors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration fee can be waived upon request by emailing the Roger Williams Park Conservancy.
In the event of inclement weather attendees will receive an email about rescheduling.
Tour Leader:
Doug Still is the Providence City Forester and manages the Providence Parks Department's Forestry Division. The Forestry Division manages the city’s 27,400 street trees, as well as all trees in city parks and on public property. It handles more than 2,000 service requests from Providence residents each year, including dead tree removal, tree pruning, pick-up of fallen branches, and stump removal. Doug has an incredible knowledge of trees, tree growth, and what it takes to make them thrive.
